Fiat’s purchase of Abarth on July 31, 1971 marked the beginning of a new chapter for the venerable 124. In 1971, the 124 Spider was prepared for the International Championship for Manufacturers when Abarth became involved with its production and development.

Between 1966 and 1985 the Fiat 124 was produced in 3 variants: the Fiat 124 (1966 to 1978), the Fiat 124, marketed as the “Spider 2000” (1979 to 1982), and the Pininfarina Spider Europa [Europe] and Azura Spider [North America] (1982 to 1985).

in November 1957, Fiat revealed the beautiful 1200 Granluce at the Turin Motor Show. It was a redesign of the popular 1100 model sedan and coupe. Fate intervened when Pininfarina redesigned the 1200 rebranding it the Cabriolet for the 1959 model year.
